ECE PLAYGROUP PROJECT COORDINATOR (Fixed Term/Part-Time) We are seeking expressions of interest for a Playgroup Coordinator position, with responsibility for the operations of a parent-led Playgroup Project, 3 mornings per week, in the Lynfield Play Centre (Auckland). This role requires proven capability in coordinating a Playgroup and application of Te Whaariki principles, and working closely with parents and volunteers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Responsibilities include programme development and delivery, supervision of assistants, administration and financial matters, and coordination of an English Language Class for playgroup parents. This unique community Playgroup Project has been established in collaboration between Auckland Regional Migrant Services (ARMS) and the Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC). The focus of this initiative is to empower local families from refugee backgrounds to meet their children's early childhood education needs in a supportive multi-cultural environment that takes account of families' cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Closing date: 16 August 2010 EMPLOYMENT BROKER - REFUGEE COMMUNITIES (Fixed Term 30/08/2010 to 30/06/2011 Part-Time) ReactNow is a specialist employment programme for refugee communities at the Auckland Regional Migrant Services located in Three Kings - Auckland. Refugee communities have identified that employment is a critical component of successful settlement. ARMS recognised the gap around specialist employment support for refugees and established ReactNow in 2007: This programme has been successful because it is tailored to meet the needs of each specific client group. * A workshop programme focussed on job search upskilling * Individual support into a range of employment outcomes and post placement support * Establishment of employer networks, job sourcing and employer advocacy This role of Refugee Community Employment Broker will focus on sourcing and securing vacancies with employers for our refugee clients, including building a portfolio of labour market information that can be utilised on our career data base. Specifically, the role will involve assessing clients from our own sources and Work and Income and matching these to appropriate vacancies. Employer advocacy is essential as is maintaining good relationships with employers for current and future employment opportunities. Additionally, the Employment Broker will support clients through the recruitment and selection process, case manage individual supervision of clients, and provide sustained support for the clients post employment. You will have a proven track record in recruitment, human resources, or employment brokerage, with sound knowledge of the NZ workplace environment. You will preferably have some experience of working with refugee communities. The least that you will need is to be genuinely interested in extending your understanding of this target group and be committed to the goal of helping refugee individuals settle more effectively in New Zealand. Reliability, tolerance, professionalism and determination are also key attributes. It is important that this person is able to travel, therefore a current driving licence and own vehicle is essential.
