jAsian Liaison Advisor - Auckland Regional Public Health Service - 025595 The Asian Liaison Advisor in partnership with the Service Manager, Clinical Director, Health Protection Manager and Health Improvement and Business Support Manager, and other Cultural Liaison Advisors, will provide strategic direction for initiatives in Public Health for Asian Communities. The role will also provide advisory and communication services to support the delivery of public health to Asian communities, as well as provide guidance and leadership to Asian workforce development initiatives in the Auckland Regional Public Health service. A key component of this role will be relationship building, including working with key Asian health stakeholders within the Auckland region and nationally, as required. In addition the Asian Liaison Advisor will: * Provide a strategic overview of Asian public health issues in the Auckland region and nationally and work towards addressing these, strengthening ARPHS ability to engage and work in partnership with Asian providers and communities to achieve public health outcomes. * Work internally in ARPHS with the Communications Manager to ensure that communication protocols are developed, tested and set up in order to effectively convey relevant information via media and other networks of communication - particularly to mobilise Asian communities for emergency responses. * Provide leadership and support for the effective planning and delivery of public health services to Asian populations including integration and collaboration with stakeholders such as MoH and DHBs. * Help align Asian workforce development initiatives with best practices in the country. * Utilising expert knowledge and advanced cultural awareness to assist staff when working with complex Asian issues. Qualified candidates must have: * A relevant tertiary qualification (preferably Masters Qualification). * Health and/or public sector management experience. * Demonstrated ability to develop strategic initiatives in complex environments. * An understanding of the principles and practices of the Treaty of Waitangi. * Sound understanding of the challenges facing Asian communities in achieving health gains & current practical experience in the delivery of models of care to Asian communities. * Sound understanding of professional ethics. * Sound understanding Asian Cultural values and protocol. * It is desirable the candidate is able to speak and write Mandarin.
