Weaving Communities Together
The Minister of the Office of Community and Voluntary Sector has funded the Taskforce to build stronger Tangata Whenua, Community and Voluntary Sector networks that will find solutions to importance issues for the Sector. The Weaving Communities Together programme will provide opportunities to build new networks or enhance existing networks to find solutions to important issues within their specific communities.
Objectives
The key objectives of the funding is to improve the power of communities to:
- engage with local issues
- act independently in terms of community aspirations
- lead positive change
- connect people to achieve a great voice and visibility
Te Tiriti/Treaty Relationship Model
The successful applicants will need to indicate how the Sector Te Tiriti/Treaty Relationship Model will be incorporated in the work of their project and their decision making
Hard to Reach Communities
Applicants need to state how they intend to engage with the 'Hard to Reach' communities and how those communities have been identified.
Implementation
Applications were called for by the 20th November 2009. Twenty (20) applications were received and shortlisted to eight (8) who were invited to complete a 'Proof of Concept'. The Taskforce is pleased to announce that three organisations have been approved to progress to their projects to implementation.
