Government-Sector Relationship Agreement
Last year, you were invited to attend the National Community-Government Forum hosted by the Hon Tariana Turia, Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, on 11 November. The forum sought a way forward in developing a Relationship Agreement to replace the 2001 Statement of Government Intentions for an Improved Community-Government Relationship. The caucus discussions at the forum explored key elements that might be in a relationship agreement and the steps in the process to develop one.Following the forum, Minister Turia has decided to establish a new Steering Group (comprising both government and community and voluntary sector members) to lead the development of the Relationship Agreement. The Minister will seek approval from Cabinet for the appointment of the Steering Group members. We are seeking your help in nominating members for this group.
To be part of this Steering Group, the Minister needs people who are:
- leaders within their part of the sector
- well networked within the community and voluntary sector
- well respected amongst their peers
- able to present and communicate effectively
- able to provide a collaborative and participatory approach.
